Greenhouse and roadside stand seasons are dependent on weather. Check our calendar for updates and seasonal events.
Schwertel’s roadside stand was started in the 1950’s by Mildred (Grandma Millie) Schwertel, who was well known and well loved in the community. As a child Ryan loved being on the farm, whether it was milking cows, driving tractor, picking pumpkins, or playing with his cousins. In 2014 Ryan bought the farm/ roadside stand from his dad and uncles and became the 3rd generation owner of Schwertel Family Farms. Today, Ryan farms with his wife Kristina and their 4 daughters, along with lots of help from family and friends.
Who We Are
Spring means flowers, and you will find lots of them as you walk through the 4 greenhouses filled with beautiful annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, veggie plants, and more. Then, as Spring turns to Summer, the focus changes to taking care of and harvesting the 40 acres of produce sold at the roadside stand. Nothing says “Summer” like sweet corn and watermelon. As the colors change and the leaves fall, autumn is the best time of year to be on the farm. Picking out the perfect pumpkin, petting some farm animals, and just enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Farming truly is a labor of love, we sure hope to see you enjoying the fruits of our labor this year!
